The Pembroke Welsh Corgi– Often called a big dog in a little package, should be 25-30lbs. These dwarf herding dogs have short legs, medium-sized body, and a wonderful beautiful foxy type face with large expressive ears that stand up. They have a big bark and they like to use it. Medium length shedding double coat; colors are red, fawn, sable, and tricolor. Fortunately, they are usually highly food motivated which makes them easy to train, especially using positive reinforcement training methods (which is what we recommend).
Corgis can make a great performance and conformation dog, they also can do well in obedience, but usually, really enjoy agility and herding. The breed standard says that they should not be shy and this quality can make them a great therapy dog as well. Because they are so smart, we recommend that owners enter them into different dog lessons to keep their minds busy and make sure they get plenty of exercise.
